Attending a high quality early childhood
program prepares children to be successful
in kindergarten and beyond.

Experts agree that children who have quality early learning experiences are better prepared to be successful in school and throughout life. Oakland County’s free preschool opportunities, Head Start and the Great Start Readiness Program, use research-based curriculum to prepare children both academically and socially for success in school.

Half- and full-day openings in schools and childcare centers are now available throughout Oakland County. Families of four earning up to $61,500 per year are usually eligible and those earning more are sometimes eligible. Programs offered are certified as very high quality by the Early Childhood Investment Corporation.
